April 15, 2010 Regular Meeting Agenda Item #10 Item Title C-9 Title I: Contract for Supplemental Educational Services 10/11 School Year Issue/Rationale Request approval of the Title I Contract for Supplemental Educational Services (SES) between the School District of Clay County and Florida Department of Education approved tutoring providers.  The contract will provide free tutoring to students eligible for free and reduced lunch at Charles E. Bennett Elementary, Clay Hill Elementary, Grove Park Elementary, McRae Elementary, S. Bryan Jennings Elementary, W. E. Cherry Elementary, and Wilkinson Elementary. As parents select the tutoring provider, it is impossible to predict which providers will acutally result in a contract with the school district.  Allowing the Director of Purchasing to contract for services as needed will allow the district and private providers of Supplemental Educational Services to meet state-imposed timelines. Recommended Action Approve the request as presented. Financial Impact All funds are supplementary to basic education.  Tutoring services will be funded through the Title I Part A Grant (federal funds).  Approximate amount for the 10/11 school year:  $475,000. The cost will not exdeed $70.00 per hour for tutorial services.  Any amount greater than $70.00 per hour shall require Board approval.
